Imagine; somewhere in the South Pacific, someone is lying in the sun, sipping a pinacolada and laughing all the way to the bank, because they figured out how to transmit ordinary phone calls via the internet.
Now the cat's out of the bag and plenty of other independent service providers are trying to jump on the bandwagon.
VoIP involves transmitting voice information digitally instead of using the traditional hard-line protocols of the PSTN (public switched telephone network).
Re-read what we said about the Internet Phone. The same phone companies that are crying because more and more individuals are no longer paying the tolls charged by ordinary telephone service are the same ones fretting over VoIP technology.
