VoIP glossary - PSTN

PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network)

Old-fashioned technology at its best. A domestic telecom network that can be accessed by specific telephone system.

The caller and receiver can make a connection thanks to shared network signaling in the form of dial pulses or multi-frequency tones. Um, they also pay for the use of the line the call is transmitted on.
